Nambi
Sanctuary
Located on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast, Nambi Sanctuary is a legally protected private biological reserve committed to the permanent conservation of 288 hectares of mangrove, wetland, and secondary forest.
This territory shelters hundreds of species, including the American crocodile and the scarlet macaw, and is part of a vital biological corridor where 4 out of 5 native mangrove species coexist.
About Nambi Sanctuary
The Spirit of Nambi
The name Nambi honors a legendary Chorotega cacique who lived in this region and was known as a protector of nature.
His legacy reminds us that preserving the land is not only a duty, it’s a spiritual connection.
We believe his spirit continues to inspire this sanctuary’s mission: to protect nature forever.
A New Model of Participation
Nambi Sanctuary opens a new chapter in global conservation: one where individuals, scientists, and institutions can take part in protecting ecosystems through transparent, certified, and science-based mechanisms.
True conservation must be participatory, inclusive, and permanent.
